Who should attend? The AVA Academy
is designed for Volunteer Resources Managers who have less than three
years experience in the field, those who have received some of
the basics but not a comprehensive curriculum, and those who
need a refresher course in basic volunteer resources management. What does the academy include? The curriculum incorporates
the basics of volunteer resources management in one integrated set
of eight 90-minute workshops and offers small-group, interactive learning. What will participants learn? Participants will
learn how to assess needs, design meaningful volunteer positions, target
recruiting, screen and interview applicants, and place volunteers successfully. Other
topics include volunteer orientation, training, evaluation, discipline and recognition. Who are the academy instructors? Workshop sessions will be
taught by skilled professionals who have spent years on the
job and are recognized trainers in volunteer resources management. Who are the Directors of the academy? Jim and Judy Bottorf, international trainers and
consultants who are also practitioners in the profession, direct the
academy. They will also teach many of the sessions. What other benefits will participants
receive? You will receive a notebook containing the academy
text and resources, additional handouts from instructors, an academy shirt,
and an AVA certificate upon completion of all sessions. Why should I take the AVA Academy? You will
