COURT ORDERED VOLUNTEERS – A Program That Works for Everybody Dave Andrews, San Diego Council on Literacy, California Session Description: A successful court-ordered
volunteer program takes a lot of work. This session is a small-group
discussion of current problems and successes, related human resources
concerns and ideas to make a negative experience into a positive, mutually
beneficial experience. Participants will return to their agencies with their questions answered. Learning Objectives: Level: Basic-Intermediate

1. Have awareness and
knowledge of the certain components of court-ordered community service
that are unique and that differentiate it from other project types and
from general volunteer activities
2. Have the ability to evaluate
and develop policies and procedures for screening and placement of
court-ordered volunteers
3. Have awareness and understanding of
working with the court system and writing appropriate letters of completion for participants
