WHY GOOD VOLUNTEERS DO THE WRONG THING

Session Description: This session will investigate that area of volunteer motivation where good volunteers start doing wrong.  We’ll show you why good volunteers are motivated to behave badly, how to look for the danger signs of a problem volunteer, and what to do to manage your “good” volunteers back into productive channels.

Learning Objectives:
1. Understand basic nature of volunteer motivation and relationship to client boundary issues
2. Identify reasons why dedicated volunteers will intentionally break program rules and standards
3. Develop identification system for safeguarding agency and volunteers from rule breaking
