A WALK IN THE PARC – A Step-by-Step Tour of Incorporating Service Learning Projects Into Your Social Service Agency’s Volunteer Program

Session Description: Interactive workshop on service learning and incorporating youth and students into your social services volunteer program – practical planning, implementation, evaluation and celebration ideas for creating a great volunteer experience for all.  Participants will work in small teams to design a real service learning project from start to finish.

Learning Objectives:
1. Awareness and knowledge of the certain components of service learning that are unique and differentiate it from other project types and from general volunteer activities
2. Awareness and understanding of both the academic components of service learning and the logistics connecting with educators in a culturally appropriate and efficient manner
3. Possess techniques and skills to implement a mutually beneficial and successful service learning project
