The Journal of Volunteer Administration Announces
a Call for Research Papers to be Presented at the 2005 International
Conference on Volunteer Administration (ICVA) November 2-5, 2005, Jacksonville, Florida, USA
The Editorial Board of The Journal of Volunteer
Administration (The JOVA) invites you to submit a proposal
sharing current research related to volunteerism and volunteer
administration. Accepted proposal authors will be invited to present their
research at the 2005 International Conference on Volunteer Administration
(ICVA) to be held November 2-5 in Jacksonville, Florida. Very successful
Research-Into-Practice sessions have been conducted at the annual ICVA
since 2002. Additionally, authors of research proposals presented at the
Conference will be invited to submit full manuscripts for 2005-2006
publication in the Research in Brief section of The JOVA. While
all proposals will be considered, topics are encouraged related to the
2005-2006 JOVA issue themes of:

New patterns of volunteerism (e.g., episodic,
spontaneous, disaster relief, homeland security, service learning,
internships, virtual volunteering, etc.)

Corporate and employee volunteerism
-
Assessing human, social, economic or environmental impacts of volunteerism
-
Volunteerism in distinct, diverse cultural groups
(e.g., indigenous peoples, racial and ethnic minorities, immigrant and migrant cultures, etc.)
Submitting a Proposal
Each proposal must include the following three
required sections and respective information:

First page: Full contact information for all
paper authors including: Name; Position and/or Title; Complete Mailing
Address; Work Telephone Number; FAX Number; and E-mail Address;

Second page: Paper Abstract (maximum 100 words).

Third page: Paper Summary (maximum 1500 words)
organized into the following required sections: Paper Title,
Introduction, Purpose of the Paper; Methodology OR
Theoretical/Conceptual Themes; Findings and Conclusions; and Implications for the Profession.
Authors should follow the standards set forth in
the Publication Manual of the American Psychology Association (APA)
5th Edition in developing proposals, and should single space all
text, double-spacing between paragraphs. Proposals not following the
guidelines stated will be returned to the author(s).
Please submit proposals electronically as a Word
(.doc extension) or Rich Text (.rtf extension) file attached to an e-mail
message, using Microsoft Word 1997 or a more recent version. (In the event
an author does not have access to a computer with e-mail capability so as
to be able to submit electronically, please mail four printed copies of
the proposal as well as the proposal on diskette in either a Word or Rich
Text file. Mailed proposals must be received by the deadline identified.)
All proposals will be �blind� reviewed by at least two members of The JOVA
Editorial Board or reviewers. Proposal authors will be notified before
April 2005 regarding the status of their proposal, and manuscript
specifications will be forwarded to those accepted. Presenters accepted
will be required to register for and pay the ICVA registration fee, and
cover their own travel and lodging expenses.
All proposals must be received by 5:00 p.m. EST on Monday, January 10, 2005.
